How to Choose the Right Credit Card When You Have High Income
Having a high income opens up a wider range of options when it comes to choosing your credit card, but that can also make it harder to find the one "best" choice for you. It's particularly important to seek out credit cards that offer unlimited rewards on your spending. The monthly rewards caps that a lot of credit cards impose are a much greater disadvantage for high earners because they also tend to spend more.
Caps on reward earnings operate on a category basis, so that the limit of points or cashback you earn for groceries is separate from the limit you would face on travel spending. Our RealValue calculator takes all of those caps into account when it shows you the 2-year rewards value for each credit card. It also deducts the cost of any annual fee that a card may charge - something that is especially common among unlimited cards that make the most sense for high income earners.
