What Makes CIMB Visa Signature Credit Card Stand Out

CIMB Visa Signature Card is a great no-fee cashback card for consumers who buy groceries, but who also have high discretionary spend. After just an S$800 minimum spend, cardholders receive 10% cashback on categories ranging from online retail shopping, beauty spend, and pet shops & services to transactions with cruise lines and at grocery stores. Even more, this is one of the only cards on the market with high cashback rates for so many types of elective spend.

Nonetheless, there are a few drawbacks to CIMB Visa Signature Card. To begin with, the card's categories are quite specific. If you don't have a pet, rarely shop for clothing online, or aren't keen on visits to spas or the hairdresser, you may not benefit from this card. Furthermore, category earnings are individually capped at S$20/month, which can be maxed out with S$200 spend. It's fairly unlikely that a consumer will spend this much across all 5 categories every month, making the S$100/month total cap a bit unachievable.

Petcaretransactions at pet shops or for vet services10%S$20
CruisesTransactions with cruise lines10%S$20
Transactions are eligible both locally and overseas, unless otherwise stipulated

Even so, CIMB Visa Signature Card has its merits. There's no annual fee, unlike some competitors, which also makes the card low-risk and maintenance-free. Even if you only spend on these categories periodically, you can still benefit from the remarkably high cashback rates when you do make such a purchase. In addition, CIMB Visa Signature Card's rebate on groceries is both one of the highest on the market, and quite functional. As a result, CIMB Visa Signature Card may be more beneficial than first thought. And, given there's no fee, you may also consider pairing it with an 'everyday' card.
