Pros

  • Offers some of the cheapest plans on the market with high coverage for high risk occupations
  • Offers optional but affordable child coverage
  • Can be purchased online

Cons

  • Above average prices for basic level plans
  • Does not provide coverage for infectious diseases

Great Eastern’s PA Supreme is a no-frills personal accident insurance plan that offers basic coverage, which puts it on par with most other personal accident plans in the market.

One of Great Eastern’s PA Supreme’s selling points is that you can get personal accident coverage for not only you but your family as well. Your child can be insured for up to S$25,000 in the event of death or permanent disability. On top of that, you can get coverage for temporary disability, unlike many other personal accident plans out there.

Great Eastern’s PA Supreme offers good value for those who have manual labour jobs. Their annual premiums are also cheaper than the industry average for those who are classified under Class 3 - i.e. persons engaging in manual labour not of a particularly hazardous nature but involving the use of tools and machinery. This is especially true the higher the sum insured.

Great Eastern’s PA Supreme Personal Accident Insurance Highlights

In terms of coverage, Great Eastern’s PA Supreme has four different tiers of coverage for three different profiles classified by risk profile and occupation.

Great Eastern’s PA Supreme offers comprehensive coverage when it comes to the basics of personal accident insurance. It offers coverage for death or permanent disability, daily hospital allowance, medical and physician expenses, mobility aid, evacuation and repatriation and funeral expenses. This is on par with other personal accident insurance plans on the market.

On top of this, PA Supreme also provides coverage of up to S$500 for your personal belongings that become damaged as a result of an accident as well as a temporary disability benefit of up to S$500 a week, for up to 104 weeks.

Despite all of PA Supreme’s strengths, we noted that its PA plans fall slightly short compared to other insurers when it comes to the maximum amount of coverage they offer on their different plans. While some insurers offer plans of up to S$1,000,000 in coverage for death or permanent disability, the highest tier plan with Great Eastern only offers S$500,000 in coverage. This may not be sufficient for those who value extremely high coverage over all else.

PA Supreme Plan A

Great Eastern’s PA Supreme Plan A is the basic-tier plan that offers budget-constrained individuals a lower-cost personal accident plan. It still offers cash benefits in the form of temporary disability benefits and a daily hospital allowance that some other entry-level personal accident plans do not offer.

That being said, PA Supreme’s Plan A is slightly more expensive than other entry-tier personal accident plans, especially for lower-risk individuals with white-collar jobs.

PA Supreme Plan B and C

Great Easterns PA Supreme mid-tier Plans B and C Assurance's mid-tier Plan 2 and Plan 3 are right on par with the industry average for other mid-tier personal accident insurance plans. While not the cheapest on the market, it does offer comprehensive coverage with good medical expense benefits. Its mobility aid benefits might be slighter lower than other mid-tier personal accident insurance plans.

Nevertheless, the temporary disability cash benefits that many other personal accident insurance plans do not include may well make the PA Supreme Plan B and C worthwhile for those looking for $200,000 to S$300,000 worth of coverage.
